Places to Go
There’s something for everyone to do and see here, especially if you love being outdoors. The Canadian River Canyon is a majestic region featuring wild rivers, cliffs, and historic ruins. Many people come here for hiking and backpacking. Kiowa National Grasslands is another popular area, especially for anyone who loves hiking, horseback riding, or fishing.
To the north, you can visit the Maxwell National Wildlife Refuge, where you may see a variety of wildlife such as bald eagles, falcons, hawks, ducks, coyotes, mule deer, and elk, just to name a few. Traveling south, those who enjoy camping and boating can visit Ute Lake State Park for a day of boating, fishing, hiking, and picnicking.
