Does Mosquero Municipal Schools provide transportation services?
We provide bus transportation for the students in our district. If you have any questions about bus schedules, please contact our office. Please remember that riding the bus is a privilege. In order to maintain a safe bus experience for our students and staff, each student must follow the behavior guidelines outlined in the student handbook.
What is the school dress code?
We believe that students' appearance is important to the learning process and use the following guidelines to maintain a safe, respectful learning environment.
- Students must keep hair clean and styled out of their eyes. They may not cut numbers or designs into their hair.
- Students must wear standard footwear at all times in school and may not wear flip flops or bedroom slippers.
- Students may not wear hats or caps in the school buildings. We also prohibit bandanas, hair nets, belt loop chains, wallet chains, spiked jewelry, and extended belts.
- Skirts must be at least as long as where the tips of the student's finger reach when the arm is at the side. We require all slits in skirts, dresses, walking shorts, and jumpers to be no higher than the point where the longest extended finger ends when a student is standing up straight.
- Students may not wear athletic shorts or bicycle shorts. We allow walking shorts as long as they are at least as long as where the tips of the student's finger reach when the arm is at the side.
- Male students may wear earrings as long as they are stud earrings.
- Students may not wear sunglasses inside the school unless the parent provides a doctor's prescription.
- Students must cover their midriffs and button shirts and blouses appropriately. We do not allow low-cut clothing.
- Students may not wear clothing with inappropriate or suggestive symbols, patches, or lettering, including clothing with messages that promote or symbolize the use of drugs, alcoholic beverages, or tobacco, or clothing that is sexually suggestive, racially offensive, profane, or that promotes violence or depicts gang or cult affiliation.
- Students may not wear pajamas or sleep wear to school unless a day is designated for such apparel.
- Students must wear pants at waist level, and they may not expose undergarments at any time. We don't allow baggy or sagging pants.
- Students may not wear tank tops, muscle shirts, or spaghetti straps, and straps on clothing must be worn appropriately (such as bib overalls).
- Students may not wear facial piercings and must cover any tattoos.
Does MMS allow cell phones on campus?
We allow students to bring cell phones to campus, but they must turn them off and avoid using them during the school day.
What if my child will be absent from school?
School attendance is vital for your child's education. If your child must be absent, students are responsible for arranging and completing make-up work.
Will school lunch be served?
We serve healthy lunches to students and staff every school day. Please visit our Food Services page for more information, including meal prices and menus.
What is the policy on school visitors?
There are times when students may wish to have a friend attend classes with them for the day. To arrange a visit, please contact the office and make arrangements. All visitors must abide by school rules and check in at the front office before entering our campus.
What if my child becomes ill at school?
We will contact you if your child becomes ill during school hours and needs to come home. Please ensure that your emergency contact phone numbers are current with the school office.
My child needs medication during the school day. How do I set this up?
If your child must take medication during school hours, you must provide our office with a written statement from the child's physician stating that the medication must be administered during school hours. We require parents and guardians to deliver the medication in the original, labeled container. We will dispense medication only as labeled by the pharmacist.
Does MMS have a pre-K program?
